Support for family caregivers
The Program Director and Assistant Director of Leeza's Care Connection depend heavily on a committed group of experienced volunteers. The volunteers enhance the positive atmosphere of the "livingroom" setting. Staff and volunteers alike endeavor to create a warm, friendly setting where caregivers can relax, "charge their batteries" and learn new skills.
Many family members visit the facility for the first time after realizing their loved one can no longer be left at home alone. They come in seeking knowledge about Alzheimers, and related memory disorders - and how to provide care. They also come for all-important emotional support.
The education and empowerment programs are all offered free of charge to caregivers of those recently diagnosed with memory disorders.
